Prerna has been bustling with activities between October 06 and January 2007. Here is a brief newsletter on the events... Considering that the dyslexic children have to make huge efforts to read and write, it was a commendable feat that our students from Prerna took part in a "READING MISSION". ‘The Reading Mission Project’ was organized by the British Library where, alongwith Prerna, nine schools from Ahmedabad had participated. The project was aimed at forming a reading habit amongst the children and spreading awareness about the pleasures of reading. From Prerna, 26 children participated and they read 52 books in total. Also, as part of this our children performed a skit, based on the book “Deep End” by Sam Hutton, the Grand Finale of which was held at Bhaikaka Bhavan on 14th of October. |

A workshop was conducted on ‘Dyslexia’ by the Calorx Foundation, in order to create awareness and acceptance of dyslexic children by their parents as well as in the society. The workshop, by Mrs Shaila Vora on 27th November, consisted of activities of which the audience was involved making it interactive and equally beneficial. The workshop was open to all and received a good response. |

Celebrity Meeting Grade 8 students from Prerna and children from Visamo Kids interviewed TV star Gautam Rhode. The interview was arranged with the purpose of having our children socialize and interact with a celebrity. As their excitement and anxiousness calmed down, they became more comfortable before him, up to the point where they eagerly questioned Mr. Rhode. Since this interview was their first interaction with a celebrity. |
Our budding model from
Prerna On the 25th of December, Ahmedabad hosted a modelling competition organized by ‘Yugma Institute’ in order to
discover talented youth and give them a chance in the fashion sector. Our
very own student, Apurva Maheshwari has also participated in the
competition of which the finale took place in Town Hall. Apurva Maheshwari
was felicitated as the ‘Star of Gujarat’ giving him the opportunity to
sign a contract with a leading modeling agency. This is a great
achievement for Apurva and Prerna and we will support Apurva in fulfilling
his dreams. We, as Prerna staff, are very proud of his success. |
